Why a Floor Plan and a Finished Room Are Not the Same Thing
A floor plan asks you to imagine. A two-inch material swatch asks you to imagine even harder — how that veining reads across a ten-foot counter, how that cabinet color feels next to that floor, whether the island you drew leaves enough room to open the oven. Most people can't hold all of that in their head at once, and the gap between what they pictured and what gets installed is exactly where regret and change orders live.

On paper, the plan looked great: a generous twelve-foot island, two-tone cabinets, and a dramatic veined quartz the homeowners had fallen for from a slab-yard sample. Everything fit the drawing. Everything was ready to order.
Then we built the model. In 3D, at real scale, the walkway between the island and the refrigerator pinched down past comfortable — one of those things a plan never quite tells you but your body notices every day. And the pairing they'd loved in isolation, the busy veined quartz against two cabinet colors, read cluttered once it was shown across the whole room under the kitchen's real lighting. None of that was obvious from the samples.
So they fixed it on the screen. The island came in eight inches to open the walkway, the cabinets went to a single calmer color, and they reselected a quieter slab that let the space breathe. Every one of those changes cost nothing but a model revision. When construction started, the finishes were locked and ordered once — no mid-project slab reorder, no "can we still change the cabinets," no change order on the selections. The kitchen they got was the one they'd already walked through.
