The Vision

A kitchen with real personality

For this Menlo Park home, the goal was a kitchen with genuine character — colour used confidently rather than cautiously. Custom Shaker cabinetry in a deep teal-blue wraps the entire room, from the base runs to the range hood to a floor-to-ceiling pantry wall, giving the space one bold, cohesive identity.

To keep that colour feeling timeless instead of trendy, we grounded it in classic materials: honed white marble on the counters and a full-height backsplash, warm brass hardware and fixtures, natural hardwood flooring, and vintage-style appliances. The result is a Peninsula kitchen that feels collected and characterful, yet completely functional for everyday cooking.

The Range & Vented Hood

The cooking wall is the room's showpiece. A vintage-style enameled gas range in the same teal-blue as the cabinetry — trimmed in brass and topped with a professional-grade burner cooktop — sits beneath a fully vented custom hood finished to match, wrapped with a single brass strap.

Behind it, a continuous slab of honed marble runs from counter to hood as a full-height backsplash, so the eye reads one clean, veined surface rather than a grid of tile. The effect turns a working range into the confident centerpiece of the whole kitchen.

Marble, Brass & the Farmhouse Sink

The working surfaces balance the bold cabinetry with soft, classic materials. Honed white marble tops every counter and the island, paired with a deep white fireclay farmhouse apron sink and a tall brass gooseneck faucet that becomes a small sculptural moment at the prep zone.

Brass carries throughout as the room's warm metal — bin pulls, knobs, bar handles, and fixtures — tying the sink, range, and cabinetry into a single, considered story. Natural hardwood floors keep the whole palette grounded and inviting.

Appliances Built Into the Colour Story

Rather than hide the appliances, we made them part of the design. A vintage-style refrigerator in matching teal-blue — complete with polished brass latch hinges and pull — anchors one wall, flanked by floor-to-ceiling custom pantry cabinetry in the same colour with slim brass hardware.

Carrying the blue all the way up and across the storage wall keeps the room reading as one intentional, built-in whole, with generous concealed pantry space behind every door.

The Result

A Bold, Timeless Kitchen

The finished kitchen proves that colour and longevity aren't opposites. The teal-blue cabinetry gives the room instant personality, while the honed marble, brass, and natural wood keep it feeling warm, classic, and grounded — the kind of kitchen that will still look considered a decade from now.

A central island and a run of peninsula seating open the layout for cooking and gathering alike, and the matched appliances, hood, and pantry wall pull everything into one cohesive design. It's a Menlo Park kitchen with genuine character, built to be lived in every day.
